The year sanity prevailed: T’s&C’s guidelines relaxed

It may not be quite up there with Nelson Mandela being released from prison after 27 years, but the new rulings regarding radio advertising Terms & Conditions were long overdue. New guidance opens the way to omitting some of those unnecessary words breathlessly machine-gunned at the audience. Ears need no longer be abused. Sanity has prevailed.

For now, the guidance centres on financial promotions, such as those found in automotive spots. But it’s an important first step. At their worst, hastily read T’s&C’s undermine any good writing that comes before them, and only serve to annoy the listener.

In fact, they’ve also been known to annoy voiceover artists, like the one in the spot below. So we’re sure Tony will be especially happy at the news.
